Kazbek

Description#

Kazbek is a glaciated dormant volcano in the Greater Caucasus above Stepantsminda. It is one of Georgia’s most important high-alpine summits.

The normal route approaches from Stepantsminda via Gergeti Trinity Church to the Meteo Station, then crosses the Gergeti Glacier and follows upper snow slopes. The summit is a popular expedition-style objective rather than a trekking peak.
