Description#
Kala Patthar is the rocky viewpoint above Gorak Shep on the Everest side of Khumbu. It is prized for its close view of Everest’s south-west face and the Khumbu Glacier.
The usual ascent is a steep trekking path from Gorak Shep, often made at sunrise or sunset. It is a non-technical acclimatisation objective, but altitude dominates the effort.
